Storage consists of eight 146 GB 15K rpm SAS drives connected to the HP Smart HBA H240, which provides 12 Gb SAS and 6 Gb SATA connectivity with RAID 0, 1 and 5 support. The eight small-form-factor bays are fully populated, leaving no internal bay free for additional drives unless the optional universal media bay or two-bay expansion is sourced separately.

No operating system and a single processor installed

The server ships without an OS, so licensing and installation must be arranged before deployment. Only one of the two possible processor sockets is occupied, limiting the system to six cores and 32 GB maximum memory until a second Xeon E5 v3 CPU and matching DIMMs are added.
