The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server built for data-centre workloads. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2609 v3 six-core processor at 1.9 GHz and 48 GB of DDR4 memory. Two 1 TB 7.2K SATA drives and a B140i software RAID controller handle storage. Redundant 500 W hot-swap power supplies keep the system running through a module failure.

Critical specification

The B140i controller supports only SATA drives and RAID 0, 1, 5 or 10. It cannot address SAS or NVME devices, so any storage expansion must use SATA media. The chassis provides eight 2.5-inch SFF bays; two are occupied by the installed drives. A second processor can be added to reach the 36-core maximum and unlock the remaining twelve DIMM slots.

Build integration

The server occupies 2U of rack space and requires standard AC power for its redundant supplies. Memory upgrades use DDR4 ECC registered modules up to 64 GB per slot, with actual speed dependent on the installed processor. The Matrox G200eH2 graphics output is intended for management consoles only. No operating system is included.
