Compact thin client for virtual desktops

The NComputing RX-HDX+ is a small-form-factor thin client built around a Broadcom BCM2837 Cortex A53 1.20 GHz quad-core processor with 1GB of memory and 8 GB of flash storage. It targets organisations that deliver virtual desktops or web applications from a central server and need a low-power endpoint for office, education or kiosk deployments. The unit ships new and includes HDMI video output plus four USB 2.0 ports for keyboard, mouse and peripherals.

Wireless and wired connectivity included

Integrated dual-band wireless LAN supports IEEE 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth, while a single RJ-45 port provides Fast Ethernet for wired networks. These interfaces let the device join existing infrastructure without extra adapters, simplifying rollout in environments where cabling is limited or mobility between rooms is required. The HDMI port drives a local display for the remote session.

Limited local resources and Fast Ethernet ceiling

Onboard storage is restricted to 8 GB flash and memory to 1GB, so the client cannot run local applications or cache large profiles; it depends entirely on server-side compute and storage. The wired uplink tops out at Fast Ethernet speeds, which may become a bottleneck for graphics-heavy sessions or high-density deployments.
