Replacing smaller or slower DIMMs

Swapping out lower-capacity or lower-speed modules for this kit raises the total memory to 256 GB and lifts the data rate to PC4-25600. The upgrade is worthwhile when workloads such as edge inference or virtualised containers exceed the current memory ceiling or bandwidth. Systems already populated with identical 64 GB RDIMMs at 3200 MHz will not gain capacity or speed from this change.

DDR4 3200 registered ECC limits

The DDR4 3200 standard caps transfer rates at 25600 MB/s per module, so total throughput scales with the number of populated channels. Registered signalling adds one clock cycle of latency versus unbuffered DIMMs, which is normal for server platforms. ECC corrects single-bit errors and detects double-bit errors but cannot repair them. Modules without a heat spreader rely on chassis airflow for cooling.
