Target system and capacity

This kit provides 768GB of DDR5 memory across eight 96GB registered DIMMs built for the Thinkmate GPX-WS-740RTP7 workstation. Each module runs at 4800 MT/s with CL40 latency at 1.1V and includes on-die ECC for data integrity. The 2Rx8 organization and 288-pin form factor match the platform's registered memory slots. It is not suited for consumer desktops or laptops that require unbuffered SODIMMs or UDIMMs.

Sustained workload behavior

Registered buffering and ECC let the kit maintain stability during long compute runs, virtualization clusters or large in-memory databases where uncorrected errors would crash the job. The 1.1V operating voltage keeps per-module power draw predictable under continuous load. Without a heat spreader, sustained throughput depends on the workstation's chassis airflow reaching the bare DRAM packages. Buyers who need higher frequencies or lower latencies for burst-oriented tasks should look elsewhere.

Installation notes

Align each 288-pin DIMM with the keyed slot and press firmly until the ejector tabs lock; the registered design adds slight resistance compared to unbuffered modules. Populate all eight channels per the Thinkmate service manual to enable full bandwidth and ECC coverage. Common issues include mixing these DIMMs with different ranks or voltages, which disables registered mode, and insufficient BIOS memory training time on cold boots. No heat-spreader clearance concerns exist.
