Add two internal USB 3.0 headers
This PCIe x1 card adds two 19-pin USB 3.0 headers to a desktop with a free PCIe slot. Each header can feed two front-panel or internal ports for up to four USB 3.0 connections. The VL805 controller handles the conversion and fits x1, x4, x8 or x16 slots. It draws power from the slot so no extra cable is required.
Sustained 5 Gbps per header
Both headers share the single PCIe x1 lane and the VL805 controller rated for 5 Gbps SuperSpeed. Under continuous load the bus caps aggregate throughput at that rate, so simultaneous heavy transfers on all four ports will contend for the same bandwidth. The card needs no external power, so thermal limits follow the slot specification rather than a dedicated supply.
PCIe x1 lane and USB 2.0 fallback
The x1 interface sets a hard ceiling of 5 Gbps total across both headers, and the card will not fit a legacy PCI slot. Connected devices fall back to USB 2.0 at 480 Mbps or USB 1.1 at 12 Mbps when SuperSpeed is unavailable. Supported operating systems include Windows XP through Windows 10, so newer releases may require unverified drivers.
