The Dell PowerEdge R940 is a 3U rack server populated with four Intel Xeon Gold 6142 processors, each running at 2.6 GHz with 16 cores. It includes 256 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across eight 32 GB modules. A PERC H730P controller with 2 GB cache manages the two installed 400 GB SATA SSDs and provides RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 support. Dual 1600 W redundant power supplies, iDRAC9 Enterprise, quad-port networking and rails are fitted.

This server targets workloads that benefit from 64 total cores and a 6 TB memory ceiling in a 3U form factor, such as virtualisation clusters, in-memory databases or high-throughput transaction processing.
