The ASUS PRIME Z490-A is an ATX motherboard built around the Intel Z490 chipset for LGA 1200 processors. It supports DDR4 memory up to 128GB and provides a single PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot for graphics. Rear I/O includes DisplayPort, USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A and a single RJ45 LAN port. The board ships with motherboard and I/O shield only.

Best Fit

This board suits a build that needs one full-size graphics card, high DDR4 capacity and basic display output from a compatible CPU. It is not suited for multi-GPU configurations, systems requiring onboard Wi-Fi or builds needing more than one high-speed USB 3.1 Gen 2 port on the rear panel. The single PCI slot adds legacy expansion but no additional x16 bandwidth.

Deciding Spec
