Purpose-built 2U server for virtualization

The Dell PowerEdge R540 is a 2U rack server designed for virtualization, software-defined storage, database applications and business-critical workloads. It ships with two Intel Xeon Silver 4114 processors, each providing 10 cores at 2.2 GHz with a 3.0 GHz turbo frequency. The system includes 512 GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory across 16 modules of 32 GB. A PERC HBA330 12Gb/s SAS/SATA storage controller manages the internal drive bays.

12-bay 3.5" chassis with SAS/SATA headroom

The chassis provides 12 front-accessible 3.5-inch drive bays, populated with Dell EMC 14G PowerEdge drive bay fillers ready for SAS, SATA or solid state drives. The HBA330 controller supports 12 Gb/s SAS and SATA connectivity, giving each bay direct access to the controller bandwidth. Storage capacity scales with the drives you install; the controller and backplane do not impose a lower limit beyond the physical bay count.

Dual 750 W platinum PSUs with iDRAC9 Express

Two 750 Watt platinum-efficiency power supplies deliver redundant power for the configured processors, memory and storage controller. Integrated iDRAC 9 Express provides remote monitoring and administration over the network. Dual-port Gigabit Ethernet adapters handle management and workload traffic. The front bezel and ready rails are not included in this configuration.
