Dual 12-core server for virtualised workloads

The Dell PowerEdge R740 ships with two Intel Gold 6126 processors running at 2.6 GHz, each providing 12 cores and 19.25 MB cache. 256 GB of DDR4 memory is installed across 16 DIMM slots. The 2U rack chassis targets organisations consolidating virtual machines or running memory-intensive databases.

The system occupies 2U of rack space and offers eight 2.5-inch drive bays, of which two are populated with 120 GB SATA SSDs. Up to eight PCIe Gen 3 slots are available for additional network, storage or accelerator cards. Redundant 1100 W power supplies and included rails support continuous operation in standard cabinets.

H730P RAID controller

The bundled H730P controller manages the installed SSDs and any future drives with hardware RAID. iDRAC9 Enterprise provides out-of-band monitoring, firmware updates and virtual console access without an operating system. Bezel, rails and power cords are included so the server can be racked immediately.
