The Dell PowerEdge R740xd2 is a 2U rack server built for high-capacity storage deployments. It ships with two Intel Xeon Gold 6150 processors, each delivering 18 cores at 2.7 GHz with a 3.7 GHz turbo frequency. The system includes 512 GB of DDR4-2666 ECC registered memory across 16 slots and 26 enterprise 8 TB 7.2K SATA 3.5-inch drives. It targets organisations running software-defined storage, big data analytics, backup repositories or media archives.

Storage Controller and Drive Interface Limits

The Dell PERC HBA330 controller provides 12 Gb/s SAS and SATA connectivity to the 26 front-accessible drive bays.
