This 128 GB kit contains two 64 GB DDR5 modules built for the Dell PowerEdge R6615 rack server. Each module is a registered ECC RDIMM that runs at 5600 MT/s with a CL46 latency and 1.1 V operating voltage. The dual-rank 2Rx4 organisation uses major OEM DRAM from Samsung, Micron or Hynix. The kit is new and validated for the target platform.
Registered ECC RDIMMs add a register between the DRAM and the memory controller, which reduces electrical load and allows higher capacities per channel. The trade-off is one extra clock cycle of latency compared with unbuffered modules. The 5600 MT/s data rate delivers 44 800 MB/s peak bandwidth per module, but actual throughput depends on the server memory controller configuration and populated DIMM slots.
Replacing smaller DDR5 RDIMMs with this 2 x 64 GB kit doubles capacity per slot, which helps memory-bound workloads such as virtualization, in-memory databases and AI inference. The jump is worthwhile when the server CPU and chipset support 64 GB dual-rank modules and the application working set exceeds the current installed memory. Systems already populated with 64 GB RDIMMs gain no capacity increase from this kit.
