The Samsung 970 EVO Plus is a 2TB internal solid-state drive built on the M.2 2280 form factor with a PCIe Gen 3.0 x4 interface. It uses Samsung V-NAND 3-bit MLC memory and a Phoenix controller backed by 1GB of Low Power DDR4 cache. The drive targets consumers who need high-capacity, low-latency storage for demanding workloads.
Sequential reads reach up to 3500 MBps and writes up to 3300 MBps. Random performance delivers up to 620,000 IOPS for 4KB reads and 560,000 IOPS for 4KB writes at queue depth 32. Dynamic Thermal Guard monitors temperature and adjusts performance to prevent throttling during extended transfers. Endurance is rated at 1200 TBW with a 1.5 million hour MTBF.
The controller operates at 3.3 V with a 5 percent tolerance. Idle power consumption is a maximum of 30 mW. AES 256-bit encryption meets TCG Opal and IEEE 1667 standards without adding audible noise. The compact M.2 design has no moving parts, so acoustic output is effectively zero in normal use.
