Dual 14-core Xeon server board

The X-PLUS X99 motherboard arrives with two Intel Xeon E5-2680 V4 processors installed, each delivering 14 cores and 28 threads at a 2.40 GHz base frequency. Eight Samsung 32 GB DDR4 ECC modules provide 256 GB of registered memory running at 2133 MHz. The platform targets virtualisation hosts, render nodes and compute clusters that benefit from high core counts and error-correcting memory.

Eight-slot DDR4 layout with dual-CPU power

The board offers eight DDR4 DIMM slots across four memory channels per processor, supporting up to 1.5 TB total capacity when fully populated. Dual LGA2011-3 sockets enable the 2S configuration with two QPI links operating at 9.6 GT/s. Forty PCI Express 3.0 lanes are available in x4, x8 and x16 configurations for add-in cards such as GPU accelerators, storage controllers or high-speed networking.

Replaces older dual-socket workstations

This kit upgrades systems built on earlier Xeon generations that lack DDR4 support or sufficient PCIe lane count for modern expansion cards. The jump is worthwhile when workloads scale beyond 16 threads and require ECC memory integrity, but it is not suited for single-threaded applications, desktop gaming builds or environments that demand the latest instruction-set extensions.
