Front-panel USB 2.0 hub

The EN-Labs FP525U27M fits a standard 5.25-inch drive bay and provides seven USB 2.0 ports at the front of a desktop case. It connects to a single USB 2.0 9- or 10-pin motherboard header and draws supplementary power from a SATA 15-pin connector on the power supply. The unit is plug-and-play and hot-swappable under supported operating systems. Black metal construction and included mounting screws complete the package.

Sustained transfer behaviour

All seven ports share the single USB 2.0 high-speed link to the motherboard, so aggregate bandwidth is limited to the interface maximum of 480 Mbps. When multiple devices operate simultaneously the available throughput divides among them, and each port can supply up to 500 mA within the hub's total power budget. The 60 cm internal adapter cable reaches most motherboard headers without strain.

USB 2.0 interface limits

The hub complies with the USB 2.0 specification and is backward compatible with USB 1.1 devices at their lower speeds.
