Socket and chipset

The MSI B560M PRO-E uses the Intel B560 chipset on a Micro ATX board with an LGA 1200 socket. It accepts 10th and 11th Gen Intel Core processors plus Pentium Gold and Celeron CPUs. Onboard video outputs function only with a processor that includes integrated graphics.

Build fit and trade-offs

One PCI Express 4.0 x16 slot and one PCIe 3.0 x1 slot handle expansion cards. A single M.2 Key M slot takes 2242, 2260 or 2280 drives at PCIe 3.0 x4 or SATA speeds; using a SATA M.2 drive disables the fourth SATA port. Four SATA 6Gb/s ports remain for additional storage. Rear I/O supplies D-Sub, HDMI, one Gigabit LAN, a PS/2 combo port, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A and four USB 2.0 ports. Internal headers add two more USB 3.2 Gen 1 and two USB 2.0 ports.

Memory capacity and limits

Two DDR4 slots support dual-channel kits up to 64 GB. With an 11th Gen CPU the board runs JEDEC speeds of 3200, 2933, 2666 and 2133 MT/s; with a 10th Gen CPU the top JEDEC speed is 2933 MT/s. Overclocked memory can reach 4800 MT/s with a single-rank single-DIMM-per-channel layout or 4600 MT/s with dual-rank DIMMs. Realtek ALC897 provides 7.1-channel audio.
