The ASRock 970 PRO3 R2.0 is an ATX board built around the AMD 970 chipset with SB950 south bridge. It accepts Phenom II X6, X4, X3 and X2 processors except the 920 and 940 models, plus Athlon II and Sempron CPUs. The platform targets builders upgrading or maintaining legacy AMD systems.

Four DDR3 slots and six SATA ports

Check that your CPU cooler clears the four 240-pin DDR3 slots, which support up to 64 GB in dual-channel mode at speeds from 800 to 2100+(OC). The board provides six SATA 6Gb/s connectors with RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 support. Expansion includes two PCI Express 2.0 x16 slots running at x16 and x4, one PCI Express 2.0 x1 slot and two legacy PCI slots.

Realtek audio and gigabit LAN under load

The Realtek ALC892 codec delivers 7.1-channel audio while the Realtek 8111E controller handles 1 Gbps networking. Both controllers are designed for continuous operation during extended gaming or workstation sessions. UEFI BIOS and USB 3.0 headers complete the feature set for sustained workloads.
