Compact rack server for virtualisation hosts

The Dell PowerEdge R430 fits a single rack unit and ships with two Xeon E5-2650 v3 processors, each providing ten cores at 2.3 GHz. Forty logical threads handle multi-tenant workloads such as hypervisor clusters or application farms. The system arrives new with 48 GB of DDR4 already installed across the twelve DIMM slots.

Storage ceiling fixed at sixteen terabytes

The integrated Perc H330 controller manages up to eight 2.5-inch hot-plug bays and supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60. Three 300 GB 15 K SAS drives are factory-fitted, leaving five bays open for expansion. Total raw capacity cannot exceed 16 TB regardless of drive choice, so datasets larger than that require external arrays.

Single 550 W redundant supply with DVD drive

One hot-swap 550 W power module provides redundancy in the 1U chassis. The front DVD-ROM adds legacy media access without occupying a drive bay. Four onboard 1 GbE ports and two PCIe 3.0 slots handle networking and add-in cards, while iDRAC8 Express gives out-of-band management from day one.
