Dual 14-core Xeon compute node

The PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack server built around two Intel Xeon E5-2683 v3 processors running at 2.0 GHz with a 3.0 GHz turbo frequency. Fourteen cores per socket deliver twenty-eight threads for heavily threaded workloads such as virtualisation, database serving and high-performance computing nodes. The platform targets midsize and large enterprises that need dense, redundant compute in a standard rack footprint.

64 GB DDR4 with 1.5 TB ceiling

Four registered ECC DDR4 modules at 2133 MHz provide 64 GB of installed memory across twenty-four slots, leaving ample headroom to scale toward the 1.5 TB maximum. Eight 2.4 TB 10K SAS drives sit behind a PERC H730 controller with 1 GB cache, supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 for capacity or redundancy. The SAS backplane also accepts SATA media, but the current configuration tops out at the eight installed spindles.

Hot-swap power and remote management

Dual 750 W platinum hot-swap supplies maintain uptime during a module failure, while iDRAC 8 Enterprise gives full out-of-band control over power, firmware and console access. A quad-port daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ links for flexible network segmentation. ReadyRails and a front bezel are included for immediate rack integration.
