Portable NVMe storage
The Orico M208C3 enclosure converts a single M.2 PCIe NVMe drive into an external USB-C device. It accepts M-key and B+M-key modules in the 2280 form factor up to four terabytes. SATA or AHCI variants are not supported.
Fanless aluminium cooling
A wrap-around aluminium vest and silicone thermal pad conduct heat from the SSD into the CNC-grooved shell without any moving parts. The enclosure draws power from the host port and supports smart sleep after ten minutes of inactivity.
Dual-headed cable included
A single tethered cable provides both a USB-C to C connector rated for 40Gbps and a USB-C to A connector rated for 10Gbps. UASP, TRIM and SMART pass-through are supported, and an LED indicates drive activity.

Slide the SSD into the M-key or B+M-key slot at a slight angle, press it down, and secure it with the screw; the step many miss is placing the included silicone thermal pad between the drive and the aluminum cooling vest before closing the case.
What maintenance or replacement will the enclosure need over time?
The aluminum body and cooling vest are passive and require no service; only the supplied USB-C to C and USB-C to A cables may wear and need replacing after heavy use.
What limit appears first during sustained 40 Gbps transfers?
Thermal throttling of the NVMe SSD itself; the enclosure’s aluminum vest and silicone pad dissipate heat, but prolonged 3151.14 MB/s reads or 2551.15 MB/s writes can still push the drive into its own thermal limit.
