What this UPS protects

The Vertiv PSA5-1500MT120 is a line-interactive battery backup rated at 1500 VA and 900 W for 120 V environments. It provides ten NEMA 5-15R outlets, five of which deliver battery-backed power plus surge protection while the remaining five supply surge protection only. Two built-in USB charging ports and an LCD panel for monitoring run time, load, battery status and input/output voltage complete the feature set.

Deciding specification

The 900 W output rating determines whether the unit can support your connected equipment. If the combined power draw of the devices you intend to keep running during an outage exceeds 900 W, this UPS will not carry the load and a higher-capacity model is required.

Sustained-load behaviour

At full 900 W load the battery provides approximately three minutes of runtime, enough to save work and initiate an orderly shutdown. At half load the runtime extends to roughly eleven minutes. Automatic voltage regulation corrects brownouts and overvoltages between 86 V and 143 V without draining the battery, preserving reserve capacity for actual outages.
