The Dell EMC PowerEdge M640 is a half-height blade server fitted with two Intel Xeon Gold 6154 processors. Each CPU runs at 3.0 GHz with a 3.7 GHz turbo frequency and provides 18 cores. The system arrives with 16 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory installed across two slots. It targets virtualization, private cloud and high-performance computing workloads in dense data-center environments.

S140 controller with dual 960 GB SSDs

Storage is handled by a Dell PERC S140 controller that supports SATA, SAS and NVMe drives along with RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10. Two Dell Enterprise 960 GB SATA 2.5-inch solid-state drives are installed in the front bays. Network connectivity comes from a Broadcom 57810S-K dual-port 10 Gb daughter card. Remote management is provided by iDRAC9 Enterprise for out-of-band monitoring and automation.

Half-height blade for MX and M1000e chassis

The M640 slides into PowerEdge MX or M1000e enclosures, letting you scale compute without adding rack height. It supports up to 56 cores per server and a maximum of 1.5 TB of DDR4 memory when fully populated. Buyers who need more than the installed 16 GB or additional drive bays should plan for extra memory modules and compatible chassis slots. No operating system is included.
