Portable NVMe enclosure for 2230–2280 drives

The Orico M2PV is a compact USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C enclosure that accepts single-sided M.2 PCIe NVMe SSDs in 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 lengths. It uses the Realtek RTL 9210 controller to deliver up to 10 Gbps bandwidth and supports Windows, macOS and Linux without drivers. The aluminium top and plastic base provide passive cooling and an auto-sleep function powers the drive down after ten minutes of inactivity. A 2-in-1 USB-C to C and USB-C to A cable is included for broad host compatibility.

Suits mobile workflows; not for SATA or Mac SSDs

This enclosure is built for users who need fast external NVMe storage on laptops, desktops or OTG-capable phones and tablets. It does not support M.2 SATA SSDs, M.2 PCIe AHCI SSDs or any SSD originally fitted to a Mac, so buyers with those drive types must choose a different adapter. The single-bay design also means it cannot accommodate two drives simultaneously or provide RAID functionality.

Sustained performance with passive cooling

Under continuous read or write loads the aluminium lid acts as a heatsink, while the RTL 9210 controller manages thermal throttling to maintain stable throughput. The auto-sleep feature reduces wear and power draw during idle periods, and the plug-and-play operation means no software overhead affects long transfers. Peak speeds will still depend on the installed SSD and the host USB port capabilities.
