The Solidigm D7-PS1010 delivers 15.36TB of storage in a U.2 15mm form factor built for server and data-centre workloads. It uses 176-layer TLC 3D NAND connected through a PCI-Express 5.0 x4 interface. Sequential reads reach up to 14500 MBps and writes up to 10000 MBps, with random performance of 3,000,000 read IOPS and 400,000 write IOPS. Endurance is rated at 1 DWPD and 14 PBW.
Moving from a PCIe 4.0 U.2 SSD doubles the interface bandwidth, raising sequential throughput and reducing latency for read-heavy analytics or logging. The jump is worthwhile when the workload saturates a 4.0 link or when a single 15.36TB device can replace multiple smaller drives, simplifying array management. It is not suited for systems limited to PCIe 3.0 or for budgets that cannot absorb the higher active power draw.
The drive occupies a standard 15mm U.2 bay and weighs 140g. Idle power is 5W and active power peaks at 23W, so the chassis airflow must handle that thermal load within the 0°C to 77°C operating range. No Opal encryption is present, so encryption must be handled at the controller or software layer. The 2,500,000-hour MTBF and 1,000 G shock rating support continuous operation in vibration-prone racks.
