Installation and common issues

The unit mounts in a standard 19-inch rack using the supplied rails; front bezel and rack rails are not included so verify your cabinet depth before ordering. Four hot-swap 3.5-inch drive trays accept SATA or SAS drives, and the pre-installed MegaRAID 9361-8i controller manages RAID 0, 1, 5 or 10 with 1 GB cache backed by a battery module. Builders often forget the dedicated IPMI LAN port needs its own cable for out-of-band KVM-over-LAN access.

Storage controller decides fit

The LSI MegaRAID 9361-8i provides eight internal SAS 12 Gb/s ports with hardware RAID and battery-backed cache, which determines whether the server can protect data on the four drive bays without a separate HBA. If your deployment requires software RAID only or more than eight internal ports, this controller will not match the requirement.
