Arduino Motor Shield R3 development board

SKU CH-BP0N-11ZH9

A dual full-bridge driver shield based on the L298 that independently controls speed and direction for two DC motors and measures current absorption

  • Drives two DC motors independently with L298 dual full-bridge driver
  • Measures current absorption per motor for load monitoring
  • TinkerKit compatible for rapid plug-and-play prototyping
  • Requires external power via 2.1 mm jack or Vin/GND screw terminals
  • Separate logic and motor supply rails protect the host board

Arduino Motor Shield R3

The Arduino Motor Shield R3 is a development board built around the L298 dual full-bridge driver. It enables an Arduino board to drive inductive loads such as DC motors, stepping motors, relays and solenoids. The shield is TinkerKit compatible for rapid project creation using plug-in modules. It suits makers and students building motorised prototypes.

Dual DC motor control with current sensing

The shield drives two DC motors independently, managing speed and direction for each channel. It also provides motor current absorption measurement for monitoring load conditions. The L298 driver requires an external power supply because motor current often exceeds the USB current rating. It cannot be powered from the USB connection alone.

External power via adapter or battery

Power is supplied through a 2.1 mm centre-positive plug into the host Arduino board or via Vin and GND screw terminals on the shield. Separate logic and motor supply connections on the L298 protect the Arduino board from damage. Correct polarity must be observed when wiring the screw terminals. The shield mounts directly onto an Arduino board.

Spurningar um þessa vöru

Will the L298 driver on this shield control two DC motors from my existing Arduino Uno without extra wiring?

The shield plugs directly onto an Arduino board and drives two DC motors independently using the L298 dual full-bridge driver, controlling speed and direction for each channel.

How can I confirm the motor current sensing is working after I mount the shield?

You can read the analog current-sense pins for each channel in your sketch to monitor real-time motor current absorption while the motors run.

Does the box include the 2.1 mm center-positive power adapter or must I source it separately?

The shield requires an external power supply; the adapter or battery is not included and must be provided separately, connected via the 2.1 mm jack or Vin and GND screw terminals.
