8GB DDR3L ECC RDIMM for Supermicro H8

This 8GB DDR3L 1600 CL11 ECC registered DIMM is built for Supermicro H8 series server and workstation boards including the H8DCT, H8DG6, H8DGT, H8DGU and H8QG7 models. It runs at 1.35V and uses a 1Rx4 organisation. The module is not compatible with standard desktop computers or unbuffered memory configurations.

Installing the 240-pin RDIMM

Installation follows the usual DIMM procedure: power down the system, open the chassis, align the notch on the 240-pin module with the slot key and press firmly until the retention clips lock. Because this is registered ECC memory, it must not be mixed with unbuffered modules and the motherboard must support registered DIMMs; otherwise the system will not post.

DDR3L 1600 registered memory limits

The DDR3L 1600 PC3L-12800 interface tops out at 1600 MT/s with a CAS latency of 11 and a low 1.35V operating voltage. Registered signalling adds a clock cycle of buffering, which improves signal integrity on heavily populated boards but prevents use in platforms that only accept unbuffered DIMMs. Capacity per module is limited to the density of the 1Rx4 devices used here.
