Optional universal media bay, NVME drive options, or extra SFF cages can occupy bay 2 and bay 3, but the B140i itself remains restricted to SATA RAID functionality.

This unit includes one E5-2609 v3 processor with six cores at 1.9 GHz; the socket count allows a second identical CPU to reach 12 cores total. Memory runs at up to 2400 MT/s depending on the installed processor, and the 24 DIMM slots support up to 3 TB when both sockets are filled. Buyers who need higher core counts, faster clock speeds, or larger initial memory must add a second processor and additional DDR4 modules.
