Low-profile USB 2.0 expansion card
The StarTech PEXUSB4DP adds four USB 2.0 ports to a desktop, workstation or server through a single PCI Express slot. It fits low-profile and small-form-factor chassis and supplies one internal header for front-bay devices. Each port delivers up to 500 mA from a dedicated power input. Driver support covers Windows 2000 through 7 and Linux with WHQL-certified files.
Builders adding legacy peripherals
The card suits users who need extra USB 2.0 connections for keyboards, mice, printers or older external drives in a compact system. It does not suit builds that require the higher bandwidth of USB 3.0 or later standards. Systems without a free PCI Express slot cannot use this adapter.
Four ports on one PCI Express slot
A single x1, x2, x4, x8 or x16 slot provides three external Type-A ports and one internal Type-A header, all running at the USB 2.0 rate of 480 Mbps. The board is compliant with the PCI Express 1.1 specification and is backward compatible with USB 1.1 devices.
