This 16GB kit contains two 8GB DDR4 modules rated at 2400 MT/s with CL16 timings of 16-16-16-39. It runs at the standard 1.20V and uses an anodized aluminum heatspreader on an eight-layer PCB. The kit is aimed at desktop builders who want a straightforward capacity upgrade for AMD Ryzen platforms.
It replaces older DDR3 memory by delivering higher bandwidth and lower power draw in the DDR4 form factor. The jump is worth it when moving to a Ryzen 300, 400, X470, X570 or TRX40 motherboard that has been compatibility-tested for reliable operation at the rated speed.
DDR4 at 2400 MT/s is bound by the memory controller on the CPU and the topology of the motherboard. On supported AMD chipsets the kit runs at its rated frequency, but the same modules may fall back to lower speeds if the platform cannot sustain the data rate.
