The Silicon Power UD90 is a 2 TB M.2 2280 drive built for consumers who need fast storage in a standard desktop or laptop slot. It uses 3D NAND flash and connects through a PCI-Express 4.0 x4 link. The drive targets creators and multitaskers who want shorter load times without paying a premium for flagship hardware.
Firmware enables NVMe 1.4 and Host Memory Buffer technology, which lets the controller borrow a slice of system RAM for mapping tables. This lowers latency and keeps random performance steady during mixed workloads. SLC caching absorbs write bursts, while LDPC error correction guards data integrity across the NAND array.
Sequential reads top out at 5000 MBps and writes at 4800 MBps, but only when the host platform supplies a full PCIe 4.0 x4 connection. On a PCIe 3.0 slot the link halves to 3.0 speeds, cutting throughput roughly in half. The controller cannot exceed the electrical limits of the bus it sits on.
