The Solidigm D5-P5336 is a 30.72TB enterprise SSD built in a U.2 15mm form factor for dense server storage. It targets data-centre operators who need maximum capacity per drive bay for read-intensive workloads such as content delivery, analytics or archival tiering. Builders without U.2 backplanes or hot-plug bays cannot use this drive.
The drive employs 192-layer QLC 3D NAND and includes FIPS-certified encryption to meet compliance requirements for sensitive data at rest. This combination delivers high areal density while providing hardware-based data protection without host software overhead. Environments that do not require FIPS validation or that prefer TLC endurance will find the QLC design unnecessary.
Rated at 0.56 DWPD (16K random write), the drive is optimised for workloads where reads vastly outnumber writes. Write-heavy applications such as OLTP databases, logging or cache tiers will exceed the endurance budget and should select a higher-DWPD alternative.
