The Solidigm D5-P5336 is a 30.72TB enterprise solid-state drive built in the E3.S 7.5mm form factor. It targets data-centre operators who need high-capacity flash for read-intensive workloads such as content delivery, analytics and warm-tier storage. The drive uses 192-layer QLC 3D NAND and connects through a PCI-Express 4.0 x4 interface. It is not suited for write-heavy applications that demand higher endurance.
The E3.S 7.5mm form factor fits hot-plug bays designed for the E3.S standard, freeing the 2.5-inch or U.2 slots that older drives occupy. A PCIe 4.0 backplane or retimer card is required to reach the stated throughput. The drive draws 5W idle and 23W active, so the chassis power budget and cooling must accommodate that load. FIPS encryption is built in, removing the need for a separate self-encrypting drive controller in compliant deployments.
Sequential reads reach 7000 MBps and writes reach 3000 MBps, while 4KB random reads hit 1005000 IOPS and 16K random writes hit 39200 IOPS at queue depth 256. Endurance is rated at 0.56 DWPD, equating to 31.55 PBW over the warranty period. MTBF is 2,000,000 hours. The controller throttles to stay within the 0°C to 70°C operating window, so sustained write streams will settle below peak burst rates once thermal limits are reached.
