The AMD EPYC 9384X is a 32-core, 64-thread server processor built on the 9004 series architecture. It operates at a 3.1 GHz base frequency with a 3.9 GHz maximum turbo frequency and provides 768 MB of L3 cache. The chip targets workloads that benefit from high core counts and large cache capacity such as virtualisation, database serving and high-performance computing.
The processor uses the Socket SP5 interface which allows placement on the PCB without soldering. No cooling device is included in the OEM package so a compatible SP5 cooler rated for the 320 W thermal design power must be sourced separately. Ensure the mounting hardware applies even pressure across the integrated heat spreader and that the chassis airflow can sustain continuous operation at the rated TDP.
Before ordering confirm that the motherboard supports 12-channel DDR5 memory running at 4800 MT/s and provides the full 128 lanes of PCI Express 5.0 connectivity. The platform must also deliver sufficient power delivery for the 320 W TDP. Systems limited to fewer memory channels or an older PCIe revision will not utilise the processor’s full bandwidth potential.
