The ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero uses the AMD X570 chipset and an AM4 socket. It accepts Ryzen 5000 Series, 4000 G-Series, 3000 Series, 3000 G-Series, 2000 Series and 2000 G-Series desktop processors. Four DDR4 slots support up to 128GB of memory with overclocked speeds reaching 4800. The board follows the standard ATX form factor measuring 30.5x24.4cm.
This motherboard suits builders who want a full-size ATX platform for high-end Ryzen CPUs and large DDR4 capacity. It is not for buyers who need a smaller form factor or a different CPU socket. It is not for systems that require integrated wireless networking or newer memory generations. The included accessories are limited to one SATA cable and the I/O shield.
The X570 chipset provides PCIe 4.0 lanes from the CPU and chipset for graphics cards and high-speed storage. It also supplies additional USB 3.2 Gen 2 and Gen 1 ports through the rear panel and front headers. LAN connectivity is handled by an Intel i211AT controller. This chipset defines the expansion and I/O capabilities of the board.
