Dell 6 TB SAS drive for Gen13 PowerEdge
This new Dell Enterprise drive delivers six terabytes of storage on a 3.5 inch SAS interface running at twelve gigabits per second. It spins at seven thousand two hundred RPM and ships with the Gen13 PowerEdge caddy already fitted. The part number is ST6000NM0034 and the Dell ordering code is 8D1V4.
Suits administrators expanding Gen13 arrays.
The drive is validated for PowerEdge R230, R330, R430, R530, R630, R730, R730xd, R930, T430 and T630 servers. Buyers whose chassis or controller lack a twelve gigabit SAS backplane cannot install this unit. Workstations and desktop PCs without enterprise SAS HBAs should look at something else.
Six terabytes for bulk data.
The capacity comfortably holds large file archives, backup targets and near-line databases that benefit from sequential throughput. Random IOPS remain constrained by the seven thousand two hundred RPM spindle, so latency-sensitive transactional workloads will run out of performance before the space fills.

Spørsmål om denne varen
Does this 3.5" SAS 12Gbps drive need a specific backplane or controller to work?
It requires a SAS 12Gbps backplane or HBA and fits the included Gen13 PowerEdge caddy for supported servers.
Will the 7200RPM 6000GB drive run on a 6Gbps SAS controller I already have?
Yes, the 12Gbps interface negotiates down to 6Gbps, so it operates on older SAS controllers at the lower speed.
How can I verify the drive is healthy after installing it in a PowerEdge R730?
Check SMART data via iDRAC or the RAID controller BIOS for zero reallocated sectors and normal temperature.
