Dual Xeon E5-2680 v4 Server for Enterprise Workloads

This 2U rack server installs two Intel Xeon E5-2680 v4 processors, each with 14 cores at 2.4 GHz and 3.3 GHz turbo. It ships with 64 GB of DDR4 2400 MHz registered ECC memory across four modules and a Dell PERC H730 1 GB controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. The system targets midsize and large enterprises running data warehouses, e-commerce, VDI, databases or HPC data nodes.

Upgrade from Single-Socket or Lower-Core Platforms

Moving from a single-socket server or a lower-core dual-socket configuration adds 28 total cores and doubles memory bandwidth, which benefits heavily threaded database and virtualization workloads. The PERC H730 controller replaces basic onboard SATA with hardware RAID and battery-backed cache, improving write latency and data protection. The jump is worthwhile when current CPU queues or storage latency limit throughput.

2U Chassis with Redundant Power and Quad-Port

The 2U form factor fits standard racks and includes ready rails and a front bezel. Two hot-swap 750 W platinum power supplies provide redundancy. Networking uses an Intel X520/I350 daughter card delivering two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports. iDRAC 8 Enterprise enables remote management. The chassis holds up to 24 DDR4 DIMMs for 1.5 TB maximum memory and eight 2.5-inch SATA/SAS bays, of which two are populated with 800 GB SSDs.
