A quad-port daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ links while iDRAC 9 Enterprise handles remote management. Dual 750 W platinum supplies and sliding rails complete the package.

Verify rack depth and power feeds

Confirm your cabinet can accept a 2U chassis and that the rails supplied match the mounting holes. Check that each 750 W supply can reach a separate PDU circuit for full redundancy. The H730P uses a low-profile PCIe slot so ensure no other riser card blocks it. Network uplinks need SFP+ transceivers and compatible switch ports for the 10 Gb links. Memory is fully populated so any expansion requires removing existing 32 GB modules. The C620 chipset limits the system to two processors, matching the current configuration.

Dual platinum supplies keep thermals steady

Redundant 750 W platinum units share the load so fan speeds stay lower under typical workloads. Hot-swap power means a failed module can be replaced without shutdown. The 2U form factor provides enough airflow for the eight 10K drives and both CPUs at 2.1 GHz base frequency. iDRAC 9 Enterprise monitors inlet temperature, fan RPM and power draw in real time and can throttle components if thresholds are exceeded. Acoustic output is typical for a 2U rack server in a cooled data-centre aisle.
