5U Tower Server for Virtualisation and Storage

The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U tower server built for virtualisation, database hosting and software-defined storage. It ships with two Intel Xeon Silver 4210 processors, each running at 2.2GHz with a 3.2GHz turbo and ten cores. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory are installed across two slots, leaving fourteen slots free for expansion up to 1TB. The system includes a PERC HBA330 12Gb/s SAS/SATA controller and eight 2.5-inch hot-swap drive trays inside a sixteen-bay chassis.

The bundled PERC HBA330 controller provides 12Gb/s SAS and SATA connectivity without RAID overhead, suited for software-defined storage or JBOD configurations. Eight 2.5-inch drive trays are included, allowing immediate population of half the available sixteen bays. Dual-port gigabit Ethernet and iDRAC 9 Express remote management are integrated on the motherboard. Two 750W platinum-efficiency hot-swap power supplies deliver redundant power. The front bezel and rack rails are not included.

This unit occupies 5U of rack height if converted; confirm your cabinet depth and airflow clearance. Memory upgrades must use DDR4-2400 ECC registered DIMMs to match the installed modules and platform requirements. No drives are installed, so source SAS or SATA SSDs or HDDs separately. Ensure your hypervisor or operating system supports the Xeon Silver 4210 architecture and the HBA330 controller in non-RAID mode.
