The HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server built for virtualisation hosts, database nodes and compute clusters that demand high core density in a standard data-centre footprint. It ships with two 16-core Xeon E5-2698 v3 processors running at 2.3 GHz, giving 32 threads for parallel workloads. The 8SFF chassis accepts up to eight 2.5-inch drives for local storage capacity.

P440 SAS controller and 10 GbE networking

An HPE Smart Array P440 SAS controller provides hardware RAID for SATA or SAS drives, offloading parity calculations from the CPUs. Dual 10 GbE ports on an Intel X540 adapter plus two 1 GbE ports on an Intel I350 give high-throughput connectivity for storage replication and VM migration. HPE iLO Advanced remote management enables out-of-band power control, console access and firmware updates without a local KVM.

512 GB DDR4 ECC registered memory

The system arrives with 512 GB of DDR4 ECC registered DIMMs installed across the 24 memory slots, leaving room to grow to the 3 TB maximum supported by the dual-processor configuration. Buyers who need larger in-memory datasets or more virtual machines per host must add compatible DDR4 modules; the board does not support other memory generations. Storage drives are not included and must be selected separately.
