This rack server ships with two Xeon E5-2609 v3 processors running at 1.9GHz and 512GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory. It is aimed at organisations that need dense compute in a 2U form factor for virtualisation, database or general-purpose workloads. The eight small-form-factor bays accept 2.5-inch SAS drives, which are not included in this configuration. The integrated P440 SAS controller manages storage arrays and the dual 500W power supplies provide redundancy.

Before ordering, verify rack depth and power

Confirm that your rack can accommodate the 36-inch depth and that the facility provides suitable power connections for the dual 500W flex-slot supplies. The unit weighs 40 units, so plan for appropriate lifting equipment or rails. Network connectivity includes two 10GbE and two 1GbE ports via the installed Intel I350/X540 card, so ensure your switch ports match these speeds. No drives are installed; you must supply SAS drives or order them separately.

Build quality and daily operation

The chassis uses a tool-less design for drive caddies and fan modules, simplifying routine maintenance. The P440 controller supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60, letting you configure redundancy to suit the workload. Remote management is handled by HPE iLO Advanced, giving out-of-band console access, firmware updates and health monitoring without a local KVM. Dual power supplies and redundant fans keep the server running during a single component failure.
