Practical limits of 250W ATX in a 1U design

A 250W ceiling restricts the hardware the supply can support; discrete graphics cards and high-core-count CPUs will exceed the available power. The 1U height limits cooler clearance and airflow, so sustained loads run warmer than in larger towers. Zero RPM fan mode only operates at low and medium loads, meaning the fan spins under heavier demand. Efficiency peaks around typical loads but drops at the extremes of the 250W range.

Upgrade from lower-efficiency
