The Rosewill RNE-01 houses a single M.2 NVMe SSD up to 8TB and connects through a USB4 Type-C port at 40Gbps. It accepts M-key and B+M-key drives in 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 lengths. A built-in fan and included thermal pad cool the drive during extended transfers. The silver aluminium shell works with macOS and Windows without drivers.
Users moving from USB 3.2 or 3.1 enclosures limited to 10Gbps gain up to 3840 MB/s theoretical bandwidth. The jump is worth it when editing large video projects, moving multi-gigabyte datasets or booting a live OS from external storage. Older Thunderbolt 3 hosts and some USB ports will not reach the full 40Gbps rate, so the enclosure falls back to the host's maximum speed.
The dual-end airflow fan and heatsink keep the SSD near its peak throughput during long sequential reads and writes. On Thunderbolt 4 laptops the enclosure has shown 3700 MB/s read and 3100 MB/s write in extended tests, avoiding the throttling common in fanless designs. Plug-and-play operation means no software setup is required before heavy workloads begin.
