The SonicWall TZ270 is a desktop firewall built for small offices and remote sites that need wired protection for up to 1000 users. It runs Deep Packet Inspection services including Gateway Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, Intrusion Prevention and DPI SSL. The unit handles 750000 simultaneous sessions and delivers 2 Gbps firewall inspection throughput with 750 Mbps threat-prevention throughput.

Appliance-only package

This SKU ships as the hardware appliance alone without any bundled security-service licences. Buyers must purchase separate subscriptions for Gateway Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, Intrusion Prevention, Content Filtering, Anti-Spam, Application Control and Capture Advanced Threat Protection to activate the full inspection stack. The box includes the desktop chassis, a 36 W external power adapter and a console cable.

Desktop deployment

The device sits on a desk or shelf and connects through eight 1 GbE ports plus two USB 3.0 ports for failover or storage. Zero-Touch Deployment lets the firewall pull its configuration from the cloud after power-on, while single-pane-of-glass management is available through either the local UI or the cloud console. The 16.84 W maximum draw keeps heat low, but the fixed port count means sites needing more than eight copper interfaces must add an external switch. Buyers who need rack-mount brackets or redundant power supplies should look elsewhere.
