The Synology RS3626xs is a 2U rackmount network-attached storage server pre-loaded with 192 TB of raw capacity across twelve 16 TB enterprise-class SATA drives. Upgrade from 10GbE or single-port 25GbE

The included two-port 25GbE SFP28 adapter replaces slower 10GbE links or single-port 25GbE cards, doubling available bandwidth for hypervisor storage, video editing shares or multi-site replication. The jump is worth it when sustained sequential workloads regularly saturate 10 Gb/s links or when failover across two physical ports is required for service-level agreements. Two PCIe Gen 4 x8 slots remain open for future caching or fibre-channel expansion.

Limits of 25GbE SFP28 and 12-bay SATA

Throughput tops out at 25 Gb/s per port, so aggregate bandwidth cannot exceed 50 Gb/s without additional adapters. Twelve 3.5-inch bays cap raw capacity at the installed 192 TB unless larger SATA drives become available. Memory maxes at 48 GB, limiting concurrent virtual machines or heavy deduplication tasks. Operating temperature range stops at 35 °C, requiring controlled server-room cooling.
