The Dell PowerEdge MX740C is a half-width blade server fitted with two Intel Gold 6132 processors running at 2.6 GHz. Fourteen cores per CPU give twenty-eight threads for virtualisation clusters or database workloads. It ships with 512 GB of DDR4 memory across sixteen 32 GB modules at 2933 MT/s.

Thermal and power profile

Six 2.4 TB 10K SAS drives and the H730P MX RAID controller draw steady power under typical mixed read and write loads.
