The Dell PowerEdge MX740C is a half-width blade server fitted with two Intel Gold 6132 processors running at 2.6 GHz. Fourteen cores per CPU give twenty-eight threads for virtualisation clusters or database workloads. It ships with 512 GB of DDR4 memory across sixteen 32 GB modules at 2933 MT/s.

Thermal and power profile

Six 2.4 TB 10K SAS drives and the H730P MX RAID controller draw steady power under typical mixed read and write loads. The blade form factor relies on the shared chassis cooling loop so fan speed stays proportional to combined inlet temperature. iDRAC9 Express provides remote sensor telemetry without adding local display overhead.

Fabric-ready expansion

One MX XXV710 dual-port 10/25Gb SFP28 mezzanine card is installed for high-speed fabric connectivity. The chassis supports up to two pairs of redundant general-purpose switch or pass-through bays for Fabrics A and B plus a redundant pair of storage-specific bays for Fabric C, none of which are included. No optical drive is fitted.
