The PowerEdge R730xd fits two Intel Xeon E5-2683 v3 processors at 2.0 GHz, each with 14 cores, into a 2U rack chassis. Fifty-six threads and 512 GB of registered ECC DDR4 give virtualisation hosts and database nodes the core count and memory capacity they need without spreading the workload across extra servers.

Sustained multi-thread throughput

With both CPUs installed the system can keep all twenty-eight cores per socket active under continuous load, and the H730 controller backs the twelve 6 TB enterprise drives with a 1 GB cache for steady RAID 5, 6 or 10 write performance. The quad-port X520/I350 daughter card supplies two 10 Gb SFP+ and two 1 GbE links so storage traffic and client connections stay separated on the wire.

Platinum power and remote control

Dual 750 W platinum-efficiency supplies share the load and keep running if one unit fails, while iDRAC 8 Enterprise lets administrators monitor thermals, power draw and firmware health from anywhere.
