The GIGABYTE Z490 GAMING X AX is an ATX board built for 10th generation Intel Core i9, i7, i5, i3, Pentium and Celeron processors in the LGA1200 package. It uses the Intel Z490 chipset and provides four DDR4 slots for dual channel memory up to 128GB. Integrated Intel HD Graphics are served by one HDMI 1.4 port with HDCP 2.3 support at 4096x2160 resolution and 30 Hz refresh.

PCIe 3.0 Lanes and M.2 Constraints

The primary PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot runs at x16 and a second x16 sized slot runs at x4, while three x1 slots complete the layout. Two M.2 sockets accept 2242, 2260, 2280 and 22110 form factors with both SATA and PCIe x4 or x2 signalling. Six SATA 6Gb/s ports support RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 and the platform is Intel Optane Ready for caching acceleration.

Pre Mounted I/O Shield and Q Flash Plus

A pre installed I/O shield removes the risk of forgotten installation and the Q Flash Plus button updates the BIOS without a CPU, memory or graphics card fitted. Rear USB includes one 3.2 Gen2 Type A, five 3.2 Gen1 and two 2.0 ports, while front headers add two 3.2 Gen1 and two 2.0 connections. Networking uses Intel GbE LAN at 1Gbps plus WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.
