Blade server for dual Xeon Platinum workloads

The HPE BL460c G10 is a new blade server fitted with two Xeon Platinum 8256 processors running at 3.8 GHz. It ships with 48 GB of DDR4 memory and a maximum capacity of 128 GB. Two 1.8 TB SAS hard drives connect through an HP Smart Array P204i-b SR controller. Integrated iLO Advanced handles remote management.

Suited for dense compute in blade enclosures

This half-height blade targets workloads that need high per-core frequency and shared infrastructure for power, cooling and networking. It is not for buyers who require GPU acceleration, more than two internal 2.5-inch drives, or a standalone rack-mount form factor. The 48 GB starting memory may also limit very large in-memory databases without extra DIMMs.

Dual Xeon Platinum 8256 at 3.8 GHz

The pair of four-core Xeon Platinum 8256 CPUs delivers 3.8 GHz base frequency with 16.5 MB cache each. This clock speed and core count combination drives single-thread performance for latency-sensitive applications. If the workload scales better with higher core counts at lower frequencies, a different processor choice would be appropriate.
